Using the History Panel to View Your Steps

The History panel, grouped with the Frames panel by default, is responsible for recording every step you take while editing an image. Each time you make a change to a document, that change is recorded in the History panel. Changes are listed in sequence, as in Figure 19.1. To the left of the list of steps is a slider handle. This slider handle represents the current place in the sequence of steps. Moving the slider handle back will undo steps. Moving it ahead will redo undone steps. If you undo a number of changes and then make another change, any undone steps in the History panel will be removed and cannot be redone.

Figure 19.1. If you slide the handle back to a previous step, you can quickly undo the steps in between. Steps that have been undone are grayed out in the list.
