Exercises

Now that you have had a chance to look at PhotoShop and Fireworks, use the following exercises as an opportunity to develop your skills and understanding of how these applications can help with your Fireworks workflow.

  1. Create an image file in Fireworks complete with layers, slices, and hotspots, and then export it to ImageReady. Develop an understanding of the functions that transfer well between applications and those that don’t.

  2. Repeatedly open a PSD file into Fireworks, changing the import settings a little each time you import it. Sometimes the best way to find the most appropriate import settings is by trial and error. Don’t assume that because the file does not import as you expect the first time that it is not possible to achieve success.

  3. Use the help files in both Photoshop and ImageReady to learn more about their features. Combining at your fingertips the best parts of all the applications will help you get the most from your graphic creation tools.
