Hour 21. Adobe Photoshop and ImageReady > Using Photoshop Graphics in Fireworks

Using Photoshop Graphics in Fireworks

After you have a Photoshop file you wish to open in Fireworks, you can either drag and drop the individual parts of the Photoshop file directly into your Fireworks file, or you can import the entire file. Each of the methods has its advantages, depending on your requirements once the file is in Fireworks.

When you drag a graphic from Photoshop into your Fireworks file, each graphic is converted to a bitmap object and thus loses a large amount of editability. This applies to dragging and dropping text, as well. If you want to import text from Photoshop and retain the ability to edit and update it, check out the section “Use Photoshop Graphics in Fireworks” later in this hour.
