Summary

One of the tremendous values of using an open-standards technology, such as SVG, is its interoperability with other technologies. Often times, if SVG cannot accomplish something, or cannot accomplish it in a manner you find acceptable, you can use another technology to work with SVG to meet your needs. In this case, you have seen how JavaScript can be used to detect whether an SVG viewer is available to display embedded content and improve the performance of its animation. These are but a few examples of the possibility of JavaScript interaction with SVG.

Hour 19 will show one final example for this book: using JavaScript to simulate how SVG graphics can be made dynamic. Other uses can be found and are listed online at this book's companion site: http://www.svgnow.com.
