Q&A

Q1:What are foreground and background colors?
A1: The foreground color is the uppermost of the two colored squares in the toolbox. It's the color the brush applies. The background color is the lower square. It's the color you see when you erase the canvas.
Q2:How do I change the size of a picture?
A2: Use the Image, Image size dialog box. Enter new numbers in the Print size windows. (If you change one number, the other(s) change in proportion.)
Q3:What's the purpose of the picture at the top of the toolbar?
A3: It's the Adobe Photoshop logo. Clicking it, if you have an internet connection, will take you to Adobe Online, a place for ideas, tips, and late-breaking Photoshop news.
Q4:Why are there trash cans at the bottom of the History and Layers windows?
A4: Clicking the trash can for the layers window deletes a selected layer. Similarly, clicking the trash can for the history window deletes an action. You'll learn more about this later.
