Understanding the Spec Sheet

Before working on an image that’s going to be blown up to a large degree, make sure you have all the information you need. This usually means getting a specification sheet from the company that will be doing the final output of the billboard. Don’t rely on verbal instructions, as this may lead to finger-pointing down the road if something goes wrong. Once you have a spec sheet, you know the exact requirements and can then tackle the image A typical spec sheet is shown in Figure 7-2.

Take note of the physical size the final image should be, both in dimensions and megabyte size. Also note the resolution and color mode desired.
