Variation: Create unique borders using the Cookie Cutter crop shapes

If you are looking for some less conventional borders, try using the crop shapes instead of frames.

Make a copy of your photo. Open the photo that you want to frame. On the Layers palette, click the Background layer and drag it over the New Layer icon. This will create a copy of your photo. It's important to make a copy, in case you want to change your photo later on.

Make a new Background layer. Select your original Background layer, and follow steps 2 and 3 from the previous instructions to create a new Background layer. This will become the background after you crop your photo.

Select your shape. Select the Cookie Cutter tool and click Shape on the options bar. In the Shape pop-up palette, click the arrow to view all the available shapes. Select Crop Shapes. To better view the crop shapes, change to the Large Thumbnail view. When you find a shape you like, double-click to select it, and then close the window.

Crop it! Click in the upper-left corner and drag to the lower-left corner to frame your whole photo. Adjust the size however you want. When you are done, press Enter to apply the crop.
