Extra Bits

View a Picture p. 32

  • As you'll learn in Chapters 5 and 6, you can also edit the current picture in Edit View.

  • You can display a color dispersion histogram and any EXIF camera data that's stored with an image by clicking the Show/Hide Histogram & Camera Information icon (the beanie beneath the picture).

  • You can also open any selected picture in another program, if you like. You might want to do some advanced editing in a program that has different features than Picasa, for example.

To open all selected images in your default editor/viewer (Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, for example), choose File > Open File(s) in an Editor. To use a particular editor, right-click a selected image and choose Open With, followed by the program name. (Recently used editors are listed in the Open With submenu.)

  • To view a picture's EXIF camera data, select its thumbnail and choose Picture > Properties or press .

Set Display Options p. 36

  • To prevent certain folders or files from cluttering up the Library or to prevent them from being seen by others, you can hide them, as explained in Chapter 4.
