Commands

Q1:What is Apply Image?

A1: The Apply Image command (under the Image menu) lets you blend one image's layer and a channel with a layer and a channel from the active image. Use different combinations of layers, channels, and blending modes to combine images together in very unusual ways. Take full advantage of the Preview option to see the result. (Note: Ensure that your source and destination images share the same pixel dimensions for them both to appear in the dialog.)
Q2:What is Calculations used for?

A2: The Calculations command (under the Image menu) lets you blend two individual channels from one or more source images and apply the results to a new image, a new channel, or a selection in the active image. All images must be the exact same size for this command to work. Once again, use this command to create results you might not be able to come up with using layers and blending modes alone.
Q3:What is a Gradient Map?

A3: This function lets you replace the grayscale tones of an image with a gradient. A Gradient Map is best created with an adjustment layer, as that gives you increased flexibility. Once you go to Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Gradient Map, you can choose the gradient, and because an adjustment layer has a layer mask, you can also hide parts of the adjustment layer by painting on the mask.
