Lesson 11. Integrating with Dreamweaver 8 > Adding Text in Dreamweaver

Adding Text in Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver can open files created in word processing or page layout applications that have been saved as ASCII text files. Text files (.txt files), as opposed to HTML files (.htm or .html files), open in Code view in Dreamweaver. After you open a text file in Dreamweaver, you can either copy and paste the text you need into another Dreamweaver file or save that file as a new HTML file. (A text file with the .txt extension will need the.htm or .html extension if you want the text file converted to an HTML file that opens in Dreamweaver.)

If you have Microsoft Word installed, you can open a Word document from Dreamweaver by double-clicking the filename in the Files panel. You can then copy the text from the Word document and paste it in your Dreamweaver document.
