Chapter 8. Sharing Photos > To burn a disc for use by non-iPhoto users

To burn a disc for use by non-iPhoto users

1.
Insert a blank CD or DVD, choose Open Finder from the Action pop-up menu, and give your disc a name (Figure 8.17).

Figure 8.17. Choose Open Finder from the Action pop-up menu and enter a name for your blank disc after you insert it.

2.
In iPhoto, select a group of photos you want to burn and export them to the just-inserted disc (see “Exporting Files,” earlier in this chapter). If you wish, when saving the exported photos, click the New Folder button to create a new folder and store those photos in it.

3.
Repeat step 2 until you've exported all the photos you wish to burn.

4.
In the Finder, select the CD/DVD disc icon on the Desktop or in a Finder window's sidebar, and then choose Burn Disc from the File menu.

The Finder proceeds to burn the disc (Figure 8.18 and Figure 8.19).

Figure 8.18. The Finder provides a progress dialog while it's burning the disc.

Figure 8.19. You end up with a simple hierarchy of photos on the disc, easily usable in any computer and with any program.

✓ Tips

  • It's best to set the Use Titles and Use Extensions options when exporting so your photos end up with the best possible filenames.

  • Choose JPG from the Format pop-up menu when exporting, unless you have a good reason for choosing another format.
