Chapter 1. Getting Started > Hot Plug choices

Hot Plug choices

  • Click Use iPhoto to set iPhoto to launch automatically when you connect your camera.

  • Click Use Other to leave your Hot Plug Action setting the way it is right now (probably set to launch Image Capture).

  • Click Decide Later to have iPhoto ask you this question again on the next launch.

If iPhoto 5 Won't Launch

Some people who have upgraded to iPhoto 5 find that it won't launch after the upgrade. For some of these people, the problem seems to be corruption in three files in the iPhoto Library folder: Thumb32.data, Thumb64.data, and ThumbJPG.data. Move those three files to your Desktop from your iPhoto Library folder and launch iPhoto again. If it launches, rebuilds those files, and all is well, you can throw the copies on your Desktop away. If not, refer to Chapter 9, “Troubleshooting,” for additional tips.
