Chapter 9. Troubleshooting > To delete and fix a bad thumbnail (II)

To delete and fix a bad thumbnail (II)

1.
In organize mode, zoom in so you can see only two images side by side. Now scroll down until just before iPhoto displays the corrupted thumbnail and crashes (this may require several tries).

2.
Use the Show Image File AppleScript script to help you locate the files that correspond with the photos in the film roll containing the corrupted thumbnail. The actual files you want to import are in the folders named for days of the month. Don't worry about being too accurate; there s no harm in saving too many files.

3.
Copy those files to another location in the Finder for later importing.

4.
Back in iPhoto s Library, click the film roll icon (make sure film rolls are showing) to select all the photos in that film roll containing the corrupted thumbnail, and deselect all those up to the corrupted one (which should be off-screen).

5.
Delete the remaining selected photos, which deletes the corrupted thumbnail.

6.
Reimport the photos you previously copied in the Finder.
