Chapter 3. Organizing Photos > Contextual menu shortcuts

Contextual menu shortcuts

  • You can cut, copy, or paste photos, but only within iPhoto. Cutting a photo removes it from the current album and pasting a photo adds it to the current album (other than the Library in both cases).

  • The Edit commands are useful for opening multiple selected photos in separate windows simultaneously and for opening the occasional photo in an external editor without switching iPhoto's preferences.

  • All the rest of the commands—Rotate, Show Info, Batch Change, Duplicate, My Rating, Delete from Album, and Revert to Original—are the same as those in iPhoto's Photos menu, but using the contextual menu to apply them may feel more intuitive.

✓ Tip

  • Although you can't copy a photo from iPhoto and paste it into another application, you can often drag photos from iPhoto to other applications.
