Click a text box, and from the Edit menu's Spelling menu, choose Check Spelling As You Type.

2.
Type your text.

iPhoto displays a red line underneath any words that aren't in the system-wide Mac OSX spelling dictionary (Figure 7.27).

3.
-click a word with a red underline to display a contextual menu that enables you to replace the word with one of iPhoto's guesses, ignore the misspelling for this spell-checking session, or have iPhoto learn the spelling by adding it to your system-wide Mac OSX dictionary (Figure 7.28).

✓ Tips

  • Unfortunately, iPhoto turns on the Check Spelling As You Type setting only for the currently selected text box, and forgets that it's on if you quit iPhoto. That may mean that it's too annoying to use unless you're typing a large chunk of text on a book's Introduction page.

  • Ignore Spelling isn't particularly worthwhile—if you check that text box again after quitting and relaunching, iPhoto will have forgotten that you ignored the word.
