Chapter 7. Creating Books > The bad stuff

The bad stuff

  • The image quality of the photos in books isn't as good as prints you can order in iPhoto or prints you can create with an inexpensive, six-color inkjet printer like my Epson Stylus Photo 870. Overall, the book print quality is similar to what you'd see in a magazine, with the caveat that consumer-level digital cameras can't match the output quality of equipment used by professional photographers. That said, no one to whom I've shown a book has noticed this on their own.

  • On one book I ordered, the cover photo was pasted on slightly crooked.

  • The Small books are really small, almost too small for someone with large hands to flip through easily.

Similar Book Service

If you have Windows-using friends who are envious of your books, point them at a service called myPublisher, which they can find at www.mypublisher.com. myPublisher offers extremely similar books, though creating them is harder in a Web browser than it is in iPhoto.
