Chapter 15. Collage > Adding Type and Logo Treatments

Adding Type and Logo Treatments

To make sure the collage had sufficient room for all the elements that would appear on the cover, I decided it was time to add the cover text. The text entry was pretty straightforward; I ended up with four Type layers. (For more about working with text, check out Bonus Chapter 4 “Type and Background Effects” on the CD as the back of this book.) The logo that appears in the lower right of the cover was supplied by my publisher as an EPS file. To add that element, I chose File > Place and pointed Photoshop to the logo file. That embedded the EPS file into my collage as a Smart Object layer, which allowed me to scale it to any size without losing quality. To complete the graphic elements on the cover, I added a red bar across the top of the document using the Rectangular Shape tool (Figure 15.167).
