The Visual QuickProject Guide that you hold in your hands offers a unique way to learn about new technologies. Instead of drowning you in theoretical possibilities and lengthy explanations, this Visual QuickProject Guide uses big, color illustrations coupled with clear, concise step-by-step instructions to show you how to complete one specific project in a matter of hours.

Our project in this book is to assemble your digital photos into an album using Adobe Photoshop Elements for Windows. Using the Album Creation wizard in Elements, we'll arrange photos in layouts for printing on a home printer, on high-quality photo paper. You can assemble these pages into albums using three-ring notebooks, portfolio binders, or any cover materials that appeal to you. We'll also use the Album Creation wizard to arrange photos in layouts that you can order as bound hardcover books. In the process, we'll learn about working with Elements Organizer to create catalogs of photos. And we'll learn some basic photo-enhancing techniques using tools in Elements Editor.

Of course, you could always place individual photo prints into commercial albums or homemade scrapbooks. But the Album Creation wizard makes it easy to arrange multiple photos on a single page, and the wizard's templates let you create albums in a variety of styles. There are styles that place photos in special frames, some sophisticated and elegant, others whimsical or theme-based. There are styles that show off the photos on plain white pages. The Album Creation wizard frees you from the drudgery (and in my case, the illegibility) of handwritten captions, making it easy to add high-quality text. Here's another plus: the major work in creating an album is placing the photos on the page. With traditional albums, you must redo that work for each and every album, even if you're just re-creating the same one for different members of your family. In Elements, once the work of creating the album is done, you just print or order the number of copies you need.
