Variation: Create a title

Add a title in Photoshop Elements using the Type tool. After Elements has created the contact sheets, there is more you can do. For instance, you might want to title your CD.

To do this, select the Type tool from the toolbox and click on the image, where you want to enter your text. You can always move the text later though, so don’t worry if it’s not exactly where you want it on the first try.

After choosing the font and size, enter your text for the title. When you have finished, use the Move tool () to move the title into place.

DESIGN TIP: Create a folding layout in InDesign CS

Once you have your contact sheets, you can go a step further. Using the InDesign templates provided with this project, you can create an actual double-sided booklet that contains your contact sheets and any other information you want to add. The templates are located on the CD in Project folder number 4.

FOLD IT! This is an example of a folding CD cover.

USE THE TEMPLATE Use InDesign to open the template provided with this project. After you open it, save it with a new name. Notice the placeholders for text and images. To alter the text, select the Type tool, then highlight the template text and enter your own in place of it. If there are unneeded text blocks, simply delete them.

IMPORT YOUR IMAGE After you have edited the text, place your images. Select the placeholder frame at the right of the first page and choose File > Place. Navigate to your first contact sheet and click Yes. This is now the front cover of your booklet. Repeat this step if you have more than one contact sheet to place.

SAVE, PRINT, AND ASSEMBLE After you have finished creating your layout, save the file; then print and assemble the CD case according the diagram above.
