Congratulations—you're almost done. Although this chapter is perhaps the least exciting, it is the most important of all. Everything you've learned in the last nine chapters will be for naught if your treasured photographs get lost or damaged. Take the time to protect your photos for the future.
In the world of film cameras, your negatives are probably stuffed in a shoebox. If you're really careful, you might keep this box in a fire-proof container or in some other well-protected location. If you have a burglary, your negatives aren't likely to be stolen. Your PC, on the other hand, is a very likely target—even more so if it's a notebook computer. Your digital photos are probably the most irreplaceable of all the files on your PC, so they deserve special care.
