Chapter 14. Sharpening > Ben's Techno-Babble Decoder Ring

Ben's Techno-Babble Decoder Ring

Interpolation: The processes of adding or removing pixels to an image to either change the image's dimensions or to change how large the pixels will be when the image is printed. When interpolation is done, the cropping of the image will not change.

Threshold: A setting that determines how many shades of gray or color (measured with numbers from 0 to 255) will be affected in an image. A Threshold of 4 means that Photoshop will either apply something to only four shades of gray in the image or it will ignore those four shades and work on the rest of the image.
