Color Management in Action

Now that we have everything set up and placed in the proper location, let's see what we can do with all this fancy stuff. Let's say you've used a colorimeter to profile your screen, and you used some software to create scanner and printer profiles (just don't forget to put those profiles in the proper location, as I mentioned previously). Now here comes the fun part.

Accurate Scans

Some scanners will automatically assign the proper profile to your images. You can find out if your scanner does this by clicking on the black arrow that appears at the bottom of a Photoshop document (Mac), or bottom of your screen (Windows) and choosing Document Profile. Then scan an image and see if your scanner's profile is listed at the bottom of the document window. If it is, then there is no reason to assign a profile because it already has the correct one assigned.
