Chapter 2. Importing and Managing Photos > Switching between iPhoto Library Fol...

Switching between iPhoto Library Folders

So you have two (or more) iPhoto Library folders now. How do you switch between them?

Ways to switch between iPhoto Library folders:

  • -drag an iPhoto Library folder from your Pictures folder to iPhoto’s icon in the Dock (it doesn’t matter if iPhoto is running or not).

  • Use the free iPhoto Library Manager (see sidebar) from http://homepage.mac.com/bwebster/iphotolibrarymanager.html.

  • With iPhoto not running, manually rename or move your main iPhoto Library folder, then rename or move the desired iPhoto Library folder so it’s called just “iPhoto Library” and is located in your Pictures folder.

  • When iPhoto is not running, rename or move the iPhoto Library folder, launch iPhoto again, and when iPhoto asks you, click Find Library and locate the desired iPhoto Library folder (Figure 2.22).

Figure 2.22. After renaming or moving your current iPhoto Library folder, you can switch between iPhoto Library folders by clicking Find Library and locating your desired iPhoto Library folder.

  • Use one of the other free iPhoto Library management programs, such as iPhoto Librarian (http://homepage.mac.com/scrufmeister/iPhotoLibrarian.html) or iPhoto Override (http://homepage.mac.com/dr_turgeon/Developing/FileSharing14.html). They work fine, but iPhoto Library Manager’s interface is the most clear.
