Chapter 1. Getting Started > Installing iPhoto Manually

Installing iPhoto Manually

If you aren’t willing or able to download iPhoto via Software Update, you can always do so manually.

To install iPhoto:

1.
Visit Apple’s iPhoto Web page at www.apple.com/iphoto/ and download the latest version of iPhoto.

You’ll end up with an iPhoto disk image on your Desktop (or wherever your Web browser stores downloaded files).

2.
Double-click the disk image file.

Disk Copy launches and extracts an iPhoto 2 folder to your Desktop (Figure 1.3).

Figure 1.3. Double-click the iPhoto.pkg file to start the installation process.

3.
Double-click the iPhoto.pkg file to launch iPhoto’s installer.

4.
When prompted, enter your password (Figure 1.4) and click OK.

Figure 1.4. Enter your Administrator password when prompted to proceed with the rest of the installation.

5.
Click through the Introduction, Read Me, License, Select Destination (select your hard disk here), Installation Type, Installing, and Finish Up steps.

When you’re done, you end up with iPhoto in your Applications folder.
