Chapter 5. Creating Books > Checking Spelling

Checking Spelling

You won’t be typing much in iPhoto, but since its editing environment is fairly crude, typos are likely. The last thing you want in a beautifully designed book of great photos is a glaring typo, so I recommend you check the spelling of your titles and captions using iPhoto’s spelling checker.

To check spelling (I):

1.
To open the Spelling panel, -click a text box and from the Spelling menu, choose Spelling (Figure 5.17).

Figure 5.17. To open the Spelling panel, Control-click a text box and from the Spelling menu, choose Spelling.

or

Click a text box, and from the Edit menu’s Spelling menu, choose Spelling ().

iPhoto opens the Spelling panel and if there are any misspelled words, selects the first one (Figure 5.18).

Figure 5.18. Use the controls in the Spelling panel to replace misspelled words, ignore them for this session, or add them to your user dictionary so they won’t be flagged as misspelled ever again.

2.
To replace the misspelled word with one of iPhoto’s guesses, double-click the guess, or click the guess and then click the Correct button. You can also edit the misspelled word or type a new one in the Spelling panel before clicking Correct.

To ignore the misspelled word for only this spell checking session, click Ignore.

To add the word to your system-wide Mac OS X dictionary, click Learn.
