Converting isolated areas of white into transparency

The Magic Eraser tool did not remove the white areas that are isolated within enclosed areas of the lettering because the Contiguous option was selected in the tool options bar.

One way to correct this would be to zoom in further and click in each of the white areas within the letters, just like you clicked the white rectangle in the center of the image. Instead, you’ll use a method that works much more efficiently in cases where there may be a large number of small, discontiguous areas that you want to erase, while preserving other areas of similarly colored pixels that you do not want to erase.
