Lesson 20. Producing and Printing Consis... > Saving the image as a separation

Saving the image as a separation

In this part of the lesson, you’ll learn how to save the image as a separation, so that it can print out on separate cyan, magenta, yellow, and black plates.

1.
With 20Start.tif still selected, choose File > Save As.

2.
In the Save As dialog box, select the following options:

  • On the Format pop-up menu, select Photoshop EPS.

  • Under Save Options, for Color, select the Use Proof Setup: Working CMYK check box.

Note

These settings cause the image to be automatically converted from RGB to CMYK when it is saved in the Photoshop Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) format.

3.
Name the file 20Start.eps and click Save.

4.
Click OK on the EPS Options dialog box that appears.

5.
Choose File > Open, and open the 20Start.eps file, located in the Lessons/Lesson20 folder.

Notice that the 20Start.eps file is now a CMYK file.

6.
Choose File > Save and then close the 20Start.tif and 20Start copy.tif files.

Now only the 20Start.eps file is open in Photoshop.
