Embedding Music and Audio

With MP3 becoming so popular and bandwidth increasing, we will probably see more Web sites using sound to enhance the online experience. There are basically two methods for delivering audio over the Web: files that have to be downloaded before playback, and audio that plays during download, which is called streaming audio.

In general, the first scenario gives you better control over the sound quality and doesn’t require any plugin. Both Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator can play these files directly. The problem is that the download of a long audio file takes awhile. Streaming audio has the advantage that the sound starts playing even before the file has completely loaded.
