Chapter 22. Print > Printing from Photoshop

Printing from Photoshop

Getting a good print from an image, especially a color image, is more art than science. It is not accomplished simply by twiddling Photoshop’s dials and knobs alone, but requires a thorough understanding of the settings available on your printing device, as well as the color management software built into your computer’s operating system. Here, we can provide only the basics for printing from Photoshop. You’ll also need to refer to the program’s manual, which contains a wealth of specialized technical information, as well as the documentation for your printer. If you’re preparing images for output by a service bureau, be sure to consult the experts there before setting up your image for printing.

Alt-press/Option-press and hold on the status bar to display file information.
