Chapter 22. Print

Chapter 22. Print

An image can be printed from Photoshop to a laser printer, to a color printer (e.g., ink-jet, dye sublimation), or to an imagesetter. A Photoshop image can also be imported into and then printed from a drawing application, such as FreeHand or Illustrator; a layout application, such as QuarkXPress or InDesign; or a multimedia application, such as Director or After Effects. Your file can also be prepared for viewing online. (For online output, see the next chapter.)

This chapter contains instructions for setting options for printing from Photoshop, applying trapping, preparing an image for other applications, saving a file in the EPS, DCS, TIFF, BMP, or PICT format, creating a duotone, and creating a percentage tint of a Pantone color. The last part of the chapter is devoted to color reproduction basics. (To print a spot color channel, see page 209.)
