Chapter 13. WORKING WITH PIXELS

Chapter 13. WORKING WITH PIXELS

It is the vector objects in Macromedia Fireworks that make it so easy to use. But what if you want to use images such as photographs or scanned art that cannot be created by vector objects?

Fortunately there is an alter ego to the vector side of Fireworks—a complete set of features for creating, importing, and working with pixel-based artwork. This is similar to the pixel-editing features found in programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Jasc Paint Shop Pro, and Corel Painter.

Although technically the correct term for these graphics is pixel-based or raster images, Macromedia calls them bitmap images.

Please note that the title of this chapter, Working with Pixels, has nothing to do with my cat, Pixel, even though she would like to think I wrote an entire chapter all about her.
