Chapter 5. SELECTING PATHS > Selecting Entire Objects

Selecting Entire Objects

The main selection aid is the Pointer tool. The Pointer tool selects objects as complete paths, not individual points.

To use the Pointer tool:

1.
Click the Pointer tool in the Toolbox 1.

Tip

Hold the Command/Ctrl key to temporarily access the Pointer tool while working in any other tool. Release the key to return to the original tool.

2.
Position the Pointer arrow over an object and click. A highlight color appears along the path indicating that the object is selected 2.

Tip

If the object has no fill color, you must click the path or stroke color to select the object.

Tip

If you are working in the Draft Display mode (see page 43), you must click the path directly to select the object.
