Setting the Pen and Points Display

The Pen tool options control how the path is displayed as you draw with the Pen tool. The Pen preview helps to see what the next segment of the path will look like as you position the Pen cursor.

To set the Pen preview:

1.
Double-click the Pen tool in the Tools panel to open the Options panel for the Pen tool 23.

Select Show Pen Preview to see a continuation of the path as you move the Pen tool to the next point 24.

Deselect Show Pen Preview to leave a gap between the Pen tool and the previous point on the path 24.

The Pen tool options also control the display of selected points on a path.

To set the points preview:

1.
Double-click the Pen tool in the Tools panel to open the Options panel for the Pen tool.

2.
Select Show Solid Points to display unselected points as filled squares and selected points as hollow squares 25.

Deselect Show Solid Points to display unselected points as hollow squares and selected points as filled squares 25.

Tip

When Show Solid Points is deselected, Fireworks displays points similarly to the way Adobe Illustrator and other Adobe products display points. It is also the way previous versions of Fireworks displayed points.

Tip

The Show Solid Points option changes the display of all points, regardless of the tool that was used to create them.
