Optimizing JPEG Files

JPEG is another popular file format for Web graphics. Instead of throwing away colors, JPEG files are compressed by throwing away some information. (See the color pages for an illustration of various compression settings.)

To choose JPEG as the optimization format:

1.
If the Optimize panel is not visible, choose Window > Optimize.

2.
Choose JPEG from the Format list. This changes the panel to the JPEG options 17.

3.
Set the JPEG options as described in the following exercises.
