Adjusting the color Table

In addition to lowering the number of colors for a GIF image, you can control each individual color in the file with the Color Table panel. (See the color pages for how the Color Table changes images.)

To control the colors in the Color Table:

1.
If the Color Table pane l0 is not visible, choose Window > Color Table.

Choose Rebuild Color Table from the Color Table panel menu to update the panel.

Tip

The word Rebuild appears at the top of the Color Table whenever the Color Table does not indicate the current optimization settings.

Click the swatch in the Color Table to select the color. A highlight appears around the swatch 11.

4.
Select additional colors by holding the Command/Ctrl key as you click the color swatch.

Hold the Shift key to select a range of colors.

5.
Use the exercises that follow to change the colors in the table.

Tip

Colors that have been locked or modified can be identified by the swatch feedback symbols in the Color Table 11.

Tip

Deselect Show Swatch Feedback in the Color Table panel menu to hide the swatch feedback symbols.

Tip

Press a swatch in the Color Table to see where that color appears in the image.
