Chapter 7. FILLS > Modifying Fill Edges

Modifying Fill Edges

Once you have filled an object, you can control how the edges of the object display that fill.

To change the edges of a fill:

1.
Select and fill an object.

2.
Use the Fill Edge list 26 to change the edge treatment of the fill 27.

Figure 26. The Fill Edge list controls the appearance of the edges of filled objects.

Figure 27. The three different edge choices.

  • Hard leaves the edge of the object as single-colored pixels.

  • Anti-Alias softens the edge of the object by changing the color of the pixels so they blend into the background or other objects.

  • Feather blurs the edge of the object. Use the slider to set the amount. The higher the feather, the greater the amount of blurring 28.

Figure 28. Feathering allows you to create softer, more blurred edges than anti-aliasing.

Tip

The feather amount is in pixels and is applied equally to both sides of the edge of the path.
