Chapter 20. EXPORTING > Exporting to Director

Exporting to Director

You can also export artwork from Fireworks together with the code necessary to reassemble it in Macromedia Director. This makes Fireworks the perfect tool for creating bitmap images for Director. It also allows you to add Fireworks effects such as shadows or bevels to Director movies.

To export as Director objects:

1.
Create your Fireworks objects using any combination of layers, frames, or slices.

Tip

Artwork on a single frame should be separated by placing the different elements on separate layers. Or you can use slices to divide the artwork into separate elements.

2.
In Fireworks, choose File > Export. This opens the Export dialog box.

3.
Choose Director (.htm) from the Save As list 36.

4.
Use the Source list to choose Fireworks Layers or Fireworks Slices 37.

Figure 37. Firworks's Source list lets you choose what elements should be used to create the Director images.

5.
Choose Trim Images to discard any excess canvas area around the images.

6.
Choose Put Images in Subfolder to navigate to locate the subfolder where images should be stored.

7.
Click Save to export the artwork.
