Chapter 20. EXPORTING > Exporting CSS Layers

Exporting CSS Layers

You can also export Fireworks objects as Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) Layers. This allows you to export the individual layers or frames of a Fireworks document together with the HTML code necessary to create a CSS Layer.

To export as CSS Layers:

1.
Create your Fireworks objects using layers, frames, or slices.

Tip

Artwork on a single frame should be separated by placing the different elements on separate layers. The elements for a button automatically appear on frames. An image that is sliced appears as a part of slices.

2.
In Fireworks, choose File > Export.

3.
Choose CSS Layers (.htm) from the Save As list 33.

4.
Use the Source list to choose how to separate the elements 34.

5.
Select Trim Images to discard any excess canvas area around the images.

6.
Select Put Images in Subfolder to navigate to locate the subfolder where images should be stored.

7.
Click Save to export the artwork.
