Chapter 16. ANIMATIONS

Chapter 16. ANIMATIONS

It's hard to believe that, just a few years ago, there were very few Web pages with animated images. Today it's hard to find a Web page that doesn't have some type of animated image. Words move up and down or from side to side. One picture turns into another. Images zoom in and out.

Any animation—cartoon, Web graphic, or motion picture—is basically a series of still images that appear in quick succession, giving the illusion of motion. Just like the flip books you played with as a child.

Fireworks gives you an extensive collection of tools and commands to create both GIF animations and Flash (SWF) animations.

I remember how excited I was when I created my first Web animation. Even though I have written and produced many television commercials, it was a real thrill to see my own artwork move around the page. If this is your first experience creating animations, enjoy it!
