White Points and Black Points and Grays, Oh My!

Correcting images is only half the battle. You also have to target them—you have to compensate for the shortcomings of the output process the images are aimed at. If you're going to an output process other than halftone printing, targeting grayscale images is simply a matter of matching the contrast of your image to the contrast behavior of the output device. But when the image is destined for print, you have to do two things.
