“How can I print spot colors from Photoshop?” has long been one of the most common questions we hear. Until version 5, Photoshop had only a very limited ability to create, preview, and print spot-color overlays. The program was really designed to do process-color work (or continous tone RGB output), not spot color. Fortunately, Photoshop 5 made the process somewhat simpler (though it's still not simple, even in Photoshop 6). There are three ways to do spot-color work in Photoshop.
