The Future of Publishing

Tim Gill of Quark, Inc. drew laughs at the Spring 1997 Seybold Conference when he commented that “print publishing has one very important attribute that isn't shared by the Web: you can make money doing it.” While much of the wild rush to the Web has been driven by vague fears of being left behind by the competition, people are beginning to invent Web business models that actually make sense and occasionally even make money as well. Whatever your reason for being on the Web, one of the keys to success is to produce images that are small, compress well, yet still have impact. Photoshop gives you the tools to accomplish this. As for making money at it: if we knew, would we have written this book?
