Getting a Good Scan

You have three primary concerns when you're scanning: tone, color balance, and resolution. A good scan captures detail (with little noise) in both the highlights and shadows, captures both pastels and saturated colors, and contains clean neutrals that are free of obvious color casts. It also contains the right number of pixels for reproduction at the desired size.
