What Makes a Good Scan (and Why You Should Care)

If there's a single generalization we're comfortable making about working with Photoshop, it's the golden rule of computing: GIGO, or Garbage In, Garbage Out. Photoshop's tools may let you make all sorts of corrections to an image after you've opened it, and if push comes to shove, you can sometimes rescue a shot that would otherwise be unusable. But if you start with a good scan, you'll have less work to do, and your Final results will be better than if you had to Fight the image all the way.
