Leapin' Layers! More Tools and Toys

Photoshop packs a large array of layer-manipulation controls. These controls allow you to go way beyond just creating, duplicating, and deleting layers. You'll be able to distort, adjust, and add wild effects after you wade through all these options.

Transforming Layers

To rotate, scale, or distort a layer, choose one of the options in the Edit > Transform menu; then pull the handles to distort the image. This will distort the current layer as well as any other layers linked to it (Figures 3.27 and 3.28). When you like the way your image looks, press the Enter key to commit to the change (press Esc to abort). If you want to know more about the transformation controls, see Chapter 2, “Selection Primer.”
