Chapter 11. Image Blending > Closing Thoughts

Closing Thoughts

I hope that you get as much of a kick out of blending images as I do. It's one of those things that never gets old; I can always count on another surprise waiting for me around the corner. We always have bets going on in our office about whether or not certain images have been “Photoshopped.” That's how Robert Bowen's dog/ cat piece for Sony found its way into this book. We saw the Sony ad in a magazine and had a day-long debate about whether or not you could actually get a dog and a cat to embrace like that. I lost the bet. Photoshop won.

I also hope that you'll devote some serious time to playing around with the three methods of blending (grouping layers, blending sliders, and layer masks), as well as learning how to use the layer clipping paths. Both separately and together, they will give you enormous amounts of freedom to do wondrous and strange things with your images. And besides all that, it can impress the heck out of your boss or next client.
