Chapter 12. Enhancement > Closing Thoughts

Closing Thoughts

If someone were to actually publish all of the great enhancement techniques out there, you'd be wading through a book ten times the size of War and Peace. With this chapter, I tried to give you some nice, tasty samples that would inspire you to go forth and try some more on your own. I hope you enjoyed it. This part of Photoshop is always a pure pleasure for me—I could do this stuff every day. (Wait a minute, I do!) The more you work with Photoshop, the more you'll be able to add to your own personal cookbook of enhancement recipes. The trick is to find the time to play. I used to stay at work until rush-hour traffic died down just so I could have more time to play with Photoshop. When I went to college, there weren't any Photoshop classes, so I'm self-taught, thanks to a lot of midnight jam sessions with the tunes cranked up and Photoshop glowing on my computer screen. And look at me, I got to write this book!

Note

On the CD accompanying this book, you'll find a PDF file that supplements this chapter. The file, called “extras.pdf,” contains the following topics:

  • Creating a slide show

  • Punching holes in a layer

  • Inverted photo foolery

  • Blending for better grays

  • Creating distorted features

  • Taking images into other programs using clipping paths
