Painting with Filters

By using the History palette, you can turn any filter into a painting tool. The History palette is a feature you want to get very friendly with. Just briefly, it keeps track of all the changes you make to your image, and can get you back to any previous version with a simple click in the History palette. It takes a lot of the worry out of your work in Photoshop and gives you more freedom to experiment. In this section, we're going to be using the palette in conjunction with filters, but first let's take a quick look at how it works on its own (Figure 12.85).
