Rollovers

Now that you understand something about slices, you're ready to create another kind of hotspot: a rollover. A rollover is a screen event that occurs when the mouse is moved over or clicks on an area of a Web page that has a built-in modification. Three basic types of rollovers can be created: a change in an image area (e.g., color change, layer effect); the substitution of one image for another; or text or a secondary graphic that appears in another area of the browser window (when the mouse is over a button, keyword, or icon). Rollovers are like the voice of a Web page. They identify the key areas of a Web page that the viewer should pass their mouse over or click on, and they make a Web page more entertaining.

The image itself changes (here a Drop Shadow layer effect was added).
