WE STILL REMEMBER clearly how difficult it was to scrape a color gallery together for early editions of this book. We had to use overnight carriers to get artists'work. Then, once we got the files, they were incredibly cumbersome to store. We had to rely on the telephone for communication (so retro!), and to tell you the truth, there wasn't much great work being done yet in Photoshop. Electronic image editing was still in its infancy as an art form. Oh, what a difference a few years makes! The Internet has made viewing of artists'portfolios easy and it's easy to transmit work as e-mail attachments or on itty bitty disks. Even more important, we have an awesome selection of artwork and artists to choose from! The hardest part was narrowing down the number of works to the 32 images we decided to showcase. Luckily, thanks to Adobe and their frequent "rev" cycle, we can look forward to including new artists in future editions of this book.
